We received Matt's first letter Friday, July 31st. It reads:
Dear Family,
Today was basically just a rush from room to room for orientation meetings, much like the first day of school. I found out there are about 2400 Elders here, and about 300-400 entered today. My companion is Elder Hyer. He is from Dalls, TX, and so far he seems like a great guy.
Dad was wrong about the rooming assignments; the other companionship in our room is going to Dallas and they leave on Monday. Also, even the people in our district are not all going to Cleveland; it is about an even split between Cleveland and Rapid City, SD. Other than that, the food is good, and everything is good. I'll write to you next week. 'Till then, goodbye.
